Quality Industrial Engineer

Responsible for driving continual improvement in KVH Quality Management System processes and Manufacturing Processes at our headquarters location.  This position reports to the Director Of Corporate Quality. 


  • Write reports to pull data from various sources, filter information, identify trends, make conclusions
  • Report on product quality, reliability issues
  • Write failure analysis reports
  • Drive corrective and preventative action, continual Improvement
    • Interface with manufacturing, engineering, service, and suppliers to solve issues
  • Measure and report on complex geometric parts
    • Setup and Program CMM for measurement of complex custom parts
    • Review, approve or correct mechanical drawings before release
    • Communicate with suppliers regarding performance
  • Advise on disposition of nonconforming products
  • Design and Implement Production Processes for New Product Introductions
  • Audit business processes to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System
  • Develop and Improve Quality, Production and Service Processes
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documents to implement ECO or process improvements.
  • Support and train production assemblers on documented manufacturing procedures to ensure operator understanding and process quality results.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Contribute to new product development teams to provide input to the product design to ensure efficient production and serviceability design attributes.
  • Review preliminary ECOs to ensure the change is acceptable and can be implemented and reliable.
  • Support the sustaining engineering process.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications with quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Support and resolve production issues that prevent a high quality product results, such as part design, supplier capability, process and tool issues.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Must be able to travel both locally and internationally as required to visit suppliers, partners.


  • Four-plus years of experience working as a Quality Engineer
  • Extensive understanding of Quality Management Systems
    • Experience in manufacturing of electromechanical devices
  • Bachelor’s degree(s) in a related science(s) is preferred.  PQE Certification is desirable.
  • US citizen or Permanent Resident (KVH is unable to sponsor)

Desirable Special Training or Experience: 

  • FMEA, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, HALT/HASS, Problem Solving
